Community Health Promotion Projects (HPP)
Region 15 - Laurentides
Organization: 4 Korners
Project description 2011-2012:
Friends for Life / Prism
4Korners, a non-profit
community organization dedicated to assisting youth, adults,
seniors and their families in the Laurentian region to access
information, resources and services in English, launches a pilot
addressing mental health and anxiety disorders in two schools,
with the intent of expanding the program throughout the
Laurentian English School Board (LESB).
Two programs, “Prisme” and “Friends for Life,” has already been
delivered successfully throughout Quebec, mostly in French and
some in English. Mental health professionals, trained school
counsellors and/or teachers animate workshops to elementary and
high school students as an early intervention strategy, or to
youth at risk. As these programs expand across the LESB, data
will be used to measure success of the programs and garner
additional support from local and regional stakeholders, public
health agencies, and the CLSC.
