members of the Anglophone Community of Quebec City to Tyze
Personal Networks, a web site (virtual private network) that
connects people to their often far-away friends to help users
maintain a social circle that positively impacts their to their
mental and physical well being. JHCP also plans to engage the
community in the annual 5/30 Challenge, a regular and successful
project showing increase in participation numbers year after
year.
Project description 2011-2012:
Piloting health promotion programs for the
English-speaking community
Jeffery Hale Community Partners pursues various initiatives
to ensure that the English speaking community has access to care
and services in their language. Reports from 2 recent
initiatives, the Vitality Project and an epidemiological study
of youth in high schools of the greater Quebec city region,
reinforced just what a critical role JHCP plays in the
transmission of health prevention and promotion information.
JHCP plans to target low income single parent families, and the
challenges they face, such as lack of employability and
isolation across all age groups as major areas of focus this
year. Desired outcomes include establishing a Partnership Table,
and leading a range of health promotion programs funded by
sustainable recurrent resources.
Project description 2010-2011:
Community Consultation to Improve Health Promotion Programs
Jeffery Hale Community Partners will work in partnership with our public partner, Saint Brigid’s – Jeffery Hale Hospital to better understand and target the health promotion needs of the English-speaking population in the Quebec City region. We will conduct a community consultation and survey in partnership with the community and our partners. Pilot new programs in health promotion based on the community consultation results, evaluate the programs and establish programs to be delivered by the public partner in 2011.
